Hydraulica

Resin, stainless steel, composite decking, sound component

10’ x 9’ x 8’

2016

Created in partnership with Fairmount Water Works and Independence Seaport Museum, Philadelphia, PA. The concept was to give the river a voice. Sited along the Delaware River, Hydraulica was developed iteratively over 2 years through community conversations, including public feedback on models and concept. At this location, the river cannot be heard due to highway traffic. As pedestrians step into the sculpture, they activate audio recordings from the river that are heard inside the artwork. Project Design, modelling and fabrication of resin components by Alison Stigora, stainless steel fabrication in collaboration with Electro-Mechanical Systems, audio composition in collaboration with Blair Brothers.
