This piece was created for the Philadelphia International Airport. Nocturne refers to the musical term describing songs that are written to be played at night. These often have a lyrical and melancholy quality, and ultimately fill the darkness of night with song. These songs melodies carrying a dreamlike and transformative quality, such as is found in transitory places. The implied movement of the sculptural form is drawn from the natural world; as seen in the flow of water and wind.
